At Buddha Bee Apiary, we’re on a mission to help people fall in love with pollinators—starting with honeybees. Through our Host-a-Hive program, we install and maintain beehives in backyards across North Carolina. We believe that hands-on experiences with beekeeping can inspire change and create more advocates for pollinators. Our beekeepers are passionate about keeping bees healthy and educating others.

Position Description

Hands-On Stewards | Curious Learners | Outdoor Problem-Solvers

Beekeeping at Buddha Bee Apiary is about far more than maintaining hives — it’s about stewardship, education, safety, and respect for both honey bees and native pollinators.

We’re building a beekeeper talent pool for people who are excited about hands-on work, continual learning, and contributing to healthy ecosystems across schools, businesses, farms, and backyards.

What this role could involve in the future:

  • Managing and maintaining honey bee colonies across multiple apiaries

  • Supporting hive installations, inspections, and seasonal management

  • Working with hosts to ensure safety, education, and positive experiences

  • Assisting with honey harvests, data collection, and hive health monitoring

  • Participating in educational programs, school visits, and community events

  • Collaborating as part of a small, tight-knit field team

  • Enjoy working outdoors in all seasons

  • Are detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and safety-minded

  • Are curious about bee biology, ecology, and sustainable agriculture

  • Have beekeeping experience — or are motivated to learn with guidance
